Hi all,
As a newbie (experts are banned from responding) how much time do you spend on the various activities for internet marketing or business?
For the experts, please refrain from responding due to an important reason.
You see, for the newbies to learn from you, they have to know where they are now.
After we get 50 replies, we would then open a new thread for the experts to share with us on how they strategize their time allocation.
The comparison would then be more meaningful for the newbies to internalise.
Assuming 100 hrs per month or per duration, please list down as a percentage.
For example, for me....
Traffic generation - 50% ( article writing, social media)
Optimization of blog - 10%
Check out new products -10%
Time wasting on freebies - 10%
Learn new techniques - 10%
Test and measure - 10%
Feel free to list it according to your style or category.
Cheers,
Philip ang

Hi,
I've started blogging recently and after the Traffic Mastery workshop, I was overload with information and took me quite a while to settle things down.
As for time, currently about 7 hours per day on blogging (at my site), Blog Catalog.com Discussions(posting comments) and writing articles.
For me , what I can say is that Article Marketing is what I find the most challenging and difficult thing to do.
Even worse Ezine Articles suspended my account as I got an invalid author (no idea what's is all about).
I find GoArticles.com the most convenient among all the article submission.
I got even someone posting my article at his/her blog with my name credit to it.
My traffic increased mainly because of social bookmarking from Blog Catalog forums, and my technorati rank soared .
Anyway trying my best to learn GetResponse now...

I'm not a newbie, nor an expert, so I guess I'm qualified to answer your question.
Like you said, assuming 100hrs per month. The breakdown percentage is some quite like this:
Traffic generation: the backbone of all my activities. So I guess it consumes around more than 50%. Most of them are from forum activities, blog commenting, trackbacks. All my effort is based on free traffic generation. Which mean not a single cent is spent on adverts. (for now)
Blog optimizing is not my main agenda yet but, what I write on my blog, I maximize my effort optimizing every entry I make. And It's a One go process. So it might be around 5%.
I don't need to check out new products coz my email is full of new products promoted from top gurus and other Internet marketer. So I don't waste much time there. Maybe arround 5% also.
Freebies... Tonnes of them. I think It consumes more than 10%of my activities.
Learning new techniques. I think that is an ongoing process which takes 20% of my time. Same as test and measures 20%.
I don't know about you guys, but I notice that during my early involvement, I always check my traffic stats with an interval time of 1hour...

Thanks so far to the 3 members for their contribution.
Err, hem,...there are 126 members, 54 active. For the newbies in blogging, there is no need to feel awkward. Today you are a newbie but tomorrow you can be a milllionaire and beat other experts or veteran in internet business. Very much like mlm...you can start later, you can learn from your upline and with correct strategy, time and effort you can surpass your upline.
We will give it another month before we ask the experts their turn on time allocation for the various activities in internet business.
So for all the blogging newbies, will you please stand up and share?
Cheers,
philip ang;)

Anyone else willing to say what they want to say?
Or maybe the question is too complicated...or too simple?

I'm really new about a year involved in online business but I'm really puzzled about how others can make money in months. I tried new things how to improve my online business but when too much trying there are times I'm lost. Tried again, ok for a while, lost again. I hope I can get some help here. So this is how I spent my time in internet marketing:
Learning = 70%
Trying = 10%
Lost = 20% (this is time I get myself far from the computer and spent my time with my daughter)
